How to prepare

Use a food-grade strainer bag (we sell these separately). Add powder to the bag, immerse in cool water at roughly 30g powder to 250ml water, knead for 8–10 minutes, squeeze thoroughly. Strain into a bowl and serve.

Serving suggestions

Traditionally enjoyed in a single serving. The earthy taste is part of the ritual, but many drinkers prefer to mix or chase:

• Coconut water — classic Pacific-style pairing
• Cold coconut milk — for a richer, silkier brew
• Pineapple or orange juice — cuts through the earthiness
• Fresh ginger or lemon — refreshing chaser
